About

Rotobase is a fantasy baseball player analysis web application I wrote to help me in my preperation for the NFBC in Las Vegas in 2010.

Rotobase helps you evaluate player skills and uncover the assumptions and trends that are usually only implicit in projections. Chone (for my money, the best all-around projections available – free or paid) and Marcels projections are available for every player.

You can check and see what the market in general is projecting a player to produce via the Expected projections line (an average, of sorts, of all freely available projections). Mockdraftcentral has also been kind enough to supply ADP data for players, which I then convert into a Market price for auction drafters.

Most importantly however, is that you’ll see why some touts are so high on certain players, and so down on others. Best of all, many of these insights are generated automagically. Saves a lot of time!

Each trend that has been shown to impact player skills – and ultimately fantasy production – is made explicit in the player notes on each ballplayer’s page. This leaves it to you to decide if a higher or lower projection for a player is warranted.

Just type in a player’s last name, hit enter, and away you go. :-)

I share Rotobase with you in the hopes that you’ll find it as useful as I have. Comments, emails and constructive criticism are always welcome. You can reach me at josh@pinotblogger.com.

My name, by the way, is Josh Hermsmeyer. I’m a vintner by trade and training. If you’re like me and love wine as much as you love baseball, you can follow the birth of my winery over at Pinotblogger.com.
